Tommy Hilfiger Runway collection SS20
For the Fall 2020 HILFIGER COLLECTION, I was part of the creation and design of the collection which draws inspiration from the pioneering spirit at the heart of modern America. Country and rock-and-roll meet East Coast prep, and Western influences meet countryside comfort and East Coast urbanism, taking fans on a road trip across iconic American landscapes.
Daily Paper SS20
For the SS20 season, I collaborated in the collection design, concept creation, and art direction. It builds upon the theme of Afrofuturism first introduced in FW19, imagining how a future society severed from Earth uses cultural heritage and nostalgia to build the foundations of a new world. The collection explores the evolution of the collective consciousness of this civilization, and the stages experienced as they come to terms with their identities as members of a completely novel social group, as not just international nomads but interplanetary ones.Read more
Daily Paper FW19
Envisioning new futures, the Daily Paper FW19 collection in which I collaborated in the design of the collection, concept creation, and art direction, draws inspiration from the aesthetics of Afrofuturism - taking elements which were once considered new and modern, but are now seen as an indicator of the past. Drawing upon its nostalgia, the collection celebrates a rich, shared history, whilst looking to the future; a celebration of our diverse and ever-evolving identities. Photography by: Mous Lamrabat
How to live together?
For my final project for the master program Fashion Matters at the Sandberg Instituut, I created a collection of coats with double functionality: as space providers and triggers of interaction. They can be worn, put flat on the floor, and be joined together to create a communal sitting space to gather and share experiences with others.
“How to live together"? came from my own experience and also my admiration of nomad culture and the concept of the old tabernacle - a mobile temple. This temple refers to the idea of not destroying a space after moving around and instead of creating a temporary one, of keeping the smoothness of it, and not owning something, only borrowing it, while showing respect for the environment.” In my work fashion becomes a powerful tool, not only to create your own identity but also to relate to social space and create a sense of belonging.
