For the SS20 season, the Daily Paper collection builds upon the theme of Afrofuturism first introduced in FW19, imagining how a future society severed from Earth uses cultural heritage and nostalgia to build the foundations of a new world. The collection explores the evolution of the collective consciousness of this civilization, and the stages experienced as they come to terms with their identities as members of a completely novel social group, not just international nomads but interplanetary ones. As the formation of the new world enters its final stages, futuristic innovations like artificial intelligence and algorithmic learning become the key drivers of society. With these advanced technologies, augmented reality reaches such a level where the physical world is no longer distinct from the virtual.
